The Yellows head coach wants the team to play a leading role in the second leg against Anderlecht (Thursday, 9pm CET)
Villarreal head coach Quique Setién appeared at the press conference ahead of the second leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League round of 16 tie against Anderlecht at the Estadio de la Cerámica on Thursday at 9pm CET after the 1-1 draw in the first leg.
These are his statements before facing the Belgian team:
Game plan
“The idea is to do what we always do, we’re not a team that waits, so we’re going to go out to win and have the ball. The idea is to create chances and keep them away from our goal, taking the lead in the game. I think they’ll do the same, I think they have a similar idea of the game to us and that’s why they’ll play the way they did there. We’re going to have the ball, but we know how dangerous they are, as they have great players with the quality to make things difficult for us.”
Lo Celso and Jackson
“They are two players who have been out of action for a long time, they are developing well and little by little they will reach their best level. Whether to start them is a decision I have to make, although I don’t know if it’s good to risk it or not. I don’t know if it’s good to start them or wait until the end”.
Rotations
“It’s obvious that we have a lot of games and that we can make changes to the team, as we have good players, which allows us to make changes. All the players in the squad are perfectly valid to play in this game or in Pamplona, so we have that possibility”.
Message to fans
“I don’t think it’s necessary to send messages, we have a good atmosphere on the pitch and I’m convinced that they will be with the team.”
The Conference League, a possible route to Europe
“The reality is that I don’t think about those things, I think about the fact that we have to win and do things well. The idea is to do things well to be competitive in both competitions. We mustn’t speculate, what we have to do is go out and win the game. What we have to do is compete well and not think about anything other than this match.”
