Villarreal CF and the Fundación del Villarreal CF, through the Endavant Esports programme, sponsor various clubs and sportsmen and women in the province of Castellón with the aim of collaborating in the growth and promotion of elite sport in the province of Castellón. The project consists of financial and sporting support, as the club, in addition to providing financial benefits to the members of the programme, also offers its medical services and the use of its facilities.

For the 2023/24 season, the project of the Yellows and the Fundación del Villarreal CF will sponsor 29 clubs, 23 athletes and six competitions.

The initiative, which began in 2004 by supporting Olympic medallist Pablo Herrera, currently has a budget of 300,000 Euros and a reach of 8,644 provincial athletes of all ages, who benefit from this sports sponsorship project.

The spirit of Endavant Esports is to contribute to the promotion and growth of sport in the province of Castellón, as part of the club’s social commitment to its environment, trying to give back to society and the province the support it receives. The project consists of financial and sporting support, as the club, as well as providing financial benefits to the members of the project, also offers its medical services, the use of the facilities and all the means at its disposal to promote the development of the sportsmen and women involved in the programme.

Peñiscola Fútbol Sala, founded in 2000, has become a benchmark club on the provincial scene, backed by its two promotions to the First Division in the 2013/14 and 2022/23 seasons. Likewise, in the top flight, the club has played in the play-offs for the title in the 2015/16, 2016/17 and 2017/18 seasons. It is worth noting that their greatest success was the runners-up spot in the Copa del Rey 2022/23.

In addition, in the 2019/20 campaign it received a special mention as the best club in the whole Region of Valencia.

Cocemfe Castelló BSR (Wheelchair Basketball)

Cocemfe Castelló BSR (Wheelchair Basketball), as part of its programme to promote sports activities and the physical maintenance of people with disabilities, has been competing in the Second Division of Paralympic Basketball throughout Spain since 2016. In the 2021/22 season, the club competed in the promotion phase to the top division.

Club Patí Vila-real, since 1986, has been training hundreds of young people in skating and inline hockey. Originally based locally, the club can boast of having a full trophy cabinet. In fact, throughout its history, it has won one Spanish U14s Championship, two Spanish Under-20 Women’s Championships, one Copa Princesa, one Women’s Liga Oro, seven regional women’s championships and one regional U14s championship.

Club Basquet Vinaròs Servol, founded in 2010, is consolidating itself in the north of the province of Castellón as the cradle of hundreds of male and female basketball players. Among its greatest achievements, the Girls’ U15s won the league championship in the 2022/23 season and the Girls’ U17s were runners-up.

Club Almassora Balonmano, a handball club founded in 1982, has accumulated a large number of historic milestones within the women’s section, such as an autonomous championship and a runner-up in the Spanish Championship in the U16 age group in 2013. The most special achievement was the runner-up in the División de Honor Plata 2022 and their consequent promotion to División de Honor, finishing 8th in the 2022/23 season.

Club Handbol Onda began its journey in 2011, after taking over the handball baton from the now defunct BM Onda.  Its women’s section has given it some of the greatest achievements in its history: a promotion to División de Honor Plata in 2022, a Spanish championship at U19 level in 2023 or two Spanish runners-up at U16 level in 2021 and 2023. Likewise, the U19s have been regional champions in 2021, 2022 and 2023. In the men’s section, the entity has been regional runner-up in the U14s (2019) and U16S (2022) AGE GROUP.

Almassora Club Patí, founded in 1983, is a club specialised in training athletes in the spectacular sport of speed skating. The club participates with groups of skaters in competitions at all levels, from regional leagues to Spanish championships and marathons. Among its most outstanding milestones, five members of the team are part of the Spanish national team, two of them taking part in the World Championship, with eighth and ninth places in the speed events. They also have a European champion and a European runner-up in their ranks.

VilaSport, an futsal club founded in 1987, can boast several achievements from its youth ranks. In fact, they are triple champions of the league and cup at U19 level between 2021 and 2023. Likewise, their first team was promoted to the 2ª División RFEF in 2003 and, in their women’s section, they have been league and cup champions at senior level.

Esportiu Bàsquet Vila-real, founded in 1969, is the result of the long tradition of basketball in the city of Vila-real. In the 2004/05 season, the entity achieved its greatest sporting achievement with the promotion of the men’s first team to the EBA League, a division in which it finished in fourth position.

Club Muntanyisme Peña Mur i Castell is a trail running club from La Vall d’Uixó. Founded in 1997, it currently has two teams and 225 athletes. Its athletes compete in the Spanish Championships and its track record includes the Region of Valencia 2024 women’s championship, winners of the Penyagolosa Trails CSP and seven national runner-up medals and four third places in the Spanish team championships.

The Association of People with Disabilities COCEMFE Maestrat, founded in 2000, has a sports team called BAMESAD, participating in competitions in different sports disciplines such as swimming, basketball and table tennis.  Among its greatest achievements, the team has been champion and runner-up in Spain in adapted table tennis. This success has also been repeated in adapted swimming, with several athletes winning, or finishing runners-up or in third place.

Vila-real BC, formed in 1993, has been growing progressively since its beginnings. In its first year, the U19s were provincial champions and the U15s finished the season as runners-up in their group. Among its greatest achievements are the fifth place obtained by the senior team in the Segunda División Nacional in the 1997/98 season and the promotions to the Primera Nacional Femenina in the 2008/09 and 2018/19 seasons. In the youth teams, the basketabll club was runner-up in the U12 division in 2010/11 and has participated in multiple regional finals with the generation of ’99.

Unió Ciclista Benicarló, founded in 1984, is a well-established organisation that promotes cycling among the youngest cyclists in the province of Castellón. It currently has one of the best youth teams in Spain, and its academy teams actively participate in the regional Valencian team.

Aída Beteta (28/10/1984) is an experienced cyclist from Vila-real. She has participated in a wide variety of national, regional and provincial competitions. She belongs to CC Bonanos. Her greatest achievement is being runner-up in the Spanish MTB Championship.

SEBASTIAN MORA scaled

Sebastián Mora (19/02/1988) is a cyclist from Vila-real who competes in track events. He is a specialist in the madison and scratch events. He has also taken part in road cycling. His greatest achievements are being world champion in 2016 in the scratch race and being six times European champion in 2015, 2016, 2019 and 2020.

He was also an Olympian at London 2012 and Tokyo 2020, achieving two creditable sixth places.

VICTOR RUIZ scaled

Víctor Ruiz (24/06/1993) is a Valencian long-distance athlete, specialised in steeplechase and cross-country running. His greatest achievements are the Spanish runner-up in 2023, the Spanish record in 2000m steeplechase and the ninth best world record in the history of this discipline.

DIEGO LOPEZ scaled

Diego López (27/09/2003) is a young and promising Valencian pilota player from Onda. He plays for CPV Onda and, despite his young age, he has great sporting merits in his career. He was world champion  in 2023, also winning the award for the best player of the world in the same year. Previously, he was proclaimed Llargues champion in 2022 and European U19 champion in 2021 and 2017.

Alejandro Cortés (11/05/2005) is a rider from Benicàssim, who plays for Almassora Club Patí. Despite his youth, he has a successful sporting career in which he has won gold, silver and bronze medals in different European championships.

Roberto Bautista (14/04/1988) is one of the best tennis players on the planet and one of the most important provincial sportsmen in history. His main achievements include being in the top-ten of the ATP ranking and reaching the semi-finals of Wimbledon in 2019.

Naiara Vargas (07/04/2008) is a young skater from Almassora, who is part of Almassora Club Patí. She started skating at the age of five and has won two silver medals and a bronze medal at the Spanish Championships. She is a three-time regional champion and has achieved fourth place in the European Championship with the Spanish national team in speed skating.

Candela Lucendo (01/07/2005) is a young padel player from Castellón de la Plana. She belongs to the PadelMas Club and started playing padel when she was just 8 years old. One of her greatest achievements is having reached the last 16 at the Premier Padel Puerto Cabello tournament.

Andrea Grañana (18/10/2006) is a young and promising track cyclist. From Traiguera, she has finished sixth in the Scratch World Championships and seventh in the European Championships. She belongs to Valverde Team.

MARCOS BAUTISTA scaled 1

Marcos Bautista (05/03/2008) is an athlete from Vila-real competing for Playas de Castellón. A specialist in 110 metres hurdles who has been runner-up in the Spanish 60metres hurdles U16s indoor championship and in the 100 metres hurdles U16s indoor category. He has also been regional runner-up in the long jump.

Nacho Campos (09/03/2004) Nacho Campos (09/03/2004) is a young swimmer from Castelló de la Plana, starting in the sport when he was only three years old. He currently competes for Club Deportivo Nados Castellón and his greatest achievements are 7th in the world junior category, 7th in the European junior category, runner-up in the Spanish junior category on three occasions and bronze three times.

THIERRY NDIKUMWENAYO scaled

Thierry Ndikumwenayo (26/03/1997) is a Spanish athlete who competes in athletics, specialising in long-distance and cross-country running. He was born in Burundi, but has been representing Spain since 2023. The international athlete started in this sport at the age of 16 and his greatest success is having won the gold medal in the 5,000m at the European Championships.

Andrea Sales (29/12/2006) is a young and promising athlete from Vall d’Alba (Castellón). She is a hammer throw specialist. She holds the Spanish U16s record in her discipline, has been Spanish champion five times, and has been in the top ten of the U18 world rankings.

Carmen Ramos (18/06/1998) is a young athlete from Benicàssim, who competes for CA Playas de Castellón. She is a specialist in heptathlon, a discipline in which she was proclaimed Spanish champion in 2023.

Júlia Font (30/03/1994) is a trail runner from Fondeguilla. She started mountain running at the age of 17. Since then, the BROOks athlete has become Spanish short trail champion, 14th  in the world and 7th  in Europe.

Daniela Grañana (18/10/2006) is a young track cyclist from Traiguera. She belongs to Teika Granja Rinya and has been Spanish champion at youth level in omnium, individual pursuit and the points race.

SERGIO SERRANO scaled 1

Sergio Serrano (24/05/2005) is a cyclist from Vila-real who competes for High-Level GSport. He has won a bronze medal in the Spanish track cycling championship. He started in the sport aged 12 and has since become one of the most promising young riders in the Spanish cycling world.

Carlos Delgado (07/04/2007) is a skater from Castellón, part of Almassora Club Patí. He has been ranked fourth in Europe in the 3000m relay and fifth in the 100m. He is Spanish champion. He started speed skating at the age of just nine years old.

Jairo Noriega (26/12/1992) is an established boxer from Vila-real, who has been European champion in the flyweight category and WBO Latin champion in the light flyweight category. The ‘Lumberjack’ is one of the best fighters in the world in his category.

PABLO TORRIJOS scaled

Pablo Torrijos (12/05/1992) is an athlete from Castellón who specialises in the triple jump. He fulfilled his dream of competing at the Olympic Games in Rio 2016 and Tokyo 2020, something he never imagined when he began his career in this sport at the age of 13. He also held the Spanish record in his speciality, both outdoors and indoors, between 2017 and 2022.

LOLA ESTRADA scaled

Lola Estrada (12/05/2006) is a skater from Castellón who plays for Almassora Club Patí. At just three years of age, she started skating, excelling from a very young age. Among her greatest sporting achievements, she has been runner-up in Europe, champion and runner-up in Spain at various distances, as well as eighth and ninth in the world championships.

Elena Romá (05/07/1982) is an adapted swimmer from Vall d’Uixó. She started in this sport at the age of 39 and competes in the Tritons Club. Her greatest successes are being proclaimed Spanish champion in 50m backstroke and 150m backstroke in 2023. She achieved the Spanish record in 100m backstroke in 2022.

CLAUDIA CONTE scaled

Claudia Conte (14/11/1999) is an athlete from Benicàssim, who plays for CA Playas de Castellón. This young athlete is a specialist in the heptathlon and pentathlon, in which she has achieved great success. Among others, she has been sixth in the Pentathlon World Championships and ninth in the Heptathlon World Championships in 2022.

Arnau Llorens (12/09/2006) is an athlete from Cabanes, specialising in shot put. A member of CA Playas de Castellón, this young athlete has been five times Spanish shot put champion and Youth Olympic champion.

Carmen Jiménez (26/10/2005) is a young and promising Valencian pilota player. The player from Castellón, who started with the sport at the age of 9, has achieved great successes such as being European one wall U15 champion, European U19 international champion 9 or being regional champion in fronton, raspall and one wall in different age groups.

Claudia Batalla (14/04/2003) is a speed skater from Castellón, who has been Spanish champion and European medallist. She took her first steps in the sport when she was only 8 years old. She is currently a member of Almassora Club Patí.

SERGIO GARCIA scaled 1

Sergio Garcís Dols (22/03/2003) is a Spanish motorcycling talent. The rider from Burriana currently competes in Moto2. He has been runner-up in the Moto3 World Championship (2022) and in his first year in the second tier of motorcycling he was named ‘rookie of the year’. Undoubtedly, he is one of the great talents of the future.

Jorge Dávila (05/11/2000) is an athlete from Benicàssim who competes in the decathlon. He races for CA Playas de Castellón. He came second in the Spanish Championships in 2023, and has represented Spain in European and international competitions.

Trixilxes is a Spanish triathlon competition, originally from Xilxes. Inaugurated in 2015, this demanding event also runs through other towns in the province such as La Llosa, Moncofa, Nules and Vall d’Uixó. Every year more than 600 people take part in the event.
