Villarreal make La Cerámica a fortress to defeat Real Valladolid with goals from Ayoze Pérez, Pape Gueye, Santi Comesaña, Thierno Barry and Denis Suárez
Villarreal CF, after going the last two games unbeaten (4-0 against RCD Mallorca and 1-1 against Atlético de Madrid), returned to the Estadio de la Cerámica with the ambition of continuing this good dynamic against Real Valladolid. And so they did. Marcelino García Toral’s side once again dazzled the fans in attendance with a 5-1 win thanks to goals from Ayoze Pérez, Pape Gueye, Santi Comesaña, Thierno Barry and Denis Suárez.
The early stages of the match were tight. For a few minutes, neither team seemed to find their groove. In fact, Real Valladolid had a chance from Anuar, but Diego Conde responded well on his return from injury. Marcelino García Toral’s side had chances for Foyth and Gerard Moreno, but without luck.
Fortune came in the 41st minute when Ayoze Pérez, following a Sergi Cardona throw-in, dribbled past a pair of defenders and placed into the net to make it 1-0.
After the half-time break, the Submarine had a number of clear goalscoring chances in the first 15 minutes, though Ayoze, Baena, Gueye and Yeremy.
Their insistence paid off in the 63rd minute. After a failed clearance, Pape Gueye scored the second for the Yellows. And from then on the Yellows ran riot.
Santi Comesaña scored the third with a powerful header (3-0, min. 69), before Thierno Barry also got involved in the action, escaping from the away defence and scoring past Hein in a one-on-one (4-0, m.85).
In added time, Denis Suárez joined the party scoring the fifth for Marcelino’s side. The Galician midfielder scored his first goal since his return to Villarreal CF. Only at the end, was there a bit of frustration, after the goal scored by Amallah for Valladolid (5-1, m. 90+3).
