Miguel Álvarez expects a tough match at the historic El Collao stadium
Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez has spoken to the media this lunchtime ahead of tomorrow’s match against CD Alcoyano (Wednesday, 8:30pm CEST), which will take place at El Collao.
Here is what he had to say:
Confidence after the victory against Alcorcón
“Winning always helps and when you win, your mood is different. We focus on the day-to-day work, but, like anyone else, we want to win. Training is all very well, but we are on the threshold of professional football and we have to compete. I don’t think we were doing things badly, we were just being penalised for things that we need to improve. Of the draws we’ve had, I think we had the chance to win many of them. We have to keep adjusting things, the team has to grow and we have to learn to compete like we did the other day. Wednesday is going to be a master class for the players:”
“The other day we played a very good game and, therefore, we face tomorrow’s game with all the excitement in the world, as always, although the weeks are easier when you win. Winning always changes your mood and mentality a little, although we try not to let that happen. The players have been training as usual, but happier.”
A difficult opponent: CD Alcoyano
“All of us coaches who have been there for a long time know that El Collao is a legendary ground and that it’s very difficult to play there. Alcoyano have a very good team and they have a head coach who understands what the team needs and what the fans need. I expect a very difficult game, where we have to do things very well and we have to be at our best to get close to winning. It’s a difficult ground to take points from.”
