The Yellows beat Levante B 1-2 with goals from Fatou and Raquel
Villarreal Women lifted the COTIF trophy for the second consecutive year after defeating Levante B in the final of the traditional summer tournament, which the Yellows won with goals from Fatou and Raquel Morcillo (1-2). With the win, Sara Monforte’s side have maintained their excellent record at the start of the pre-season with two wins from two games played.
It was a back and forth first half. Both sides were determined to put on a good show, but it was an early goal from the Submarine that tipped the balance. In the first minute, Soldevila won the ball back in midfield, fed Fatou and, after a run down the flank, the Catalan made it 1-0 with a shot from just outside the area. On the verge of half-time, in one of the last moves of the first half, Marina equalised for Levante B after a quick move by the Valencians.
True to their start, Villarreal took the lead again at the start of the second half. Raquel Morcillo, with a great shot from outside the area, made it 1-2. After the yellow goal, Levante tried to attack more, but the Yellows closed down all possible avenues to win the COTIF trophy for the second year in a row.
