Ainoa Campo, Tere Morató and Kayla McKenna have parted ways from the club
Three more players have brought their time at Villarreal Women to an end: Ainoa Campo, Tere Morató and Kayla McKenna. The departures of these players follow the previously confirmed exits of Elena de Toro, Pancha Lara, Claudia Iglesias, María Llompart, Fatou Kanteh, Thaís Reiss, Yenifer Giménez, Paola Soldevila, Cristina Cubedo, Rocío García, Raquel Morcillo and Queralt Gómez.
Ainoa Campo, the Yellow Submarine’s captain last season, leaves Villarreal CF after enjoying an important role in the team’s three seasons in Liga F, where she played both as a centre-back and a central midfielder. The Palencia-born player bids farewell to the club having made 68 appearances.
Tere Morató also brings an end to her stay in Vila-real having been part of the Villarreal Women squad throughout their historic three-season stint in the top flight of Spanish women’s football. The Andorran striker played a total of 53 matches and, in the 2021/22 season (her first for the Yellows), she scored six goals in 15 matches.
Kayla McKenna ends her time at the club after one season playing for Villarreal Women. She arrived at the Yellow Submarine from Rangers last summer to cover for the departure of Sheila Guijarro and her performances have been excellent: she made 30 league appearances and one in the Copa del Reina, finding the back of the net 11 times and finishing as one of the top goalscorers in the Liga F 2023/24 season.
