Villarreal travel to sa Pobla for their opening game of the knockout competition (Tuesday, 9pm CET)
Villarreal CF are looking forward to their opening game in the Copa del Rey this season. The Groguets travel to the Balearic Islands to play against UD Poblense, the first opponent in the Copa del Rey (Tuesday, 9pm CET).
Marcelino’s side go into the First Round on the back of a 1-2 win at Real Valladolid at the Nuevo Estadio José Zorrilla, with goals from Thierno Barry and Ayoze Pérez.
After several weeks of injury problems -especially after the international break-, the Yellows are gradually getting more and more players back. This will allow them to rest the players who have played the most games and give opportunities to some of the players who, until now, have not had so many minutes. The match against the Mallorcan side could mean the debut of Júnior in goal, the return of Willy Kambwala and minutes for young prospects Pau Navarro and Pau Cabanes, who have already made their debuts under Marcelino and are regularly called up by the first team.
Despite the difference of stature between the two teams, the Groguets should not be complacent. Poblense, from the Tercera RFEF (fifth division), face one of the most exciting matches in their history. A match that will take place at the Nou Camp de Sa Pobla and in which a great atmosphere is expected. The adventure of the cup begins.
