Villarreal’s head coach advocates for control and patience against a physically powerful Sevilla side (Sunday, 9pm CEST)

Villarreal’s head coach, Quique Setién, has appeared before the media to analyse the current situation of the Yellows, who will face Sevilla FC at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán stadium this Sunday at 9pm CEST.

Speaking on the subject, the manager underlined that it will be a very tough game against a side in fine form: “They’re in inspired form and it’ll be very difficult. They’ve found a different path under Mendilibar, with whom they’re showing a very positive side, which is reflected in the team’s mood and results.”

The Submarine take on Sevilla at a fantastic time for the Sevilla side: “The mood after the win against Manchester United has an influence. Sevilla have had some difficult moments this season, but now they are in a great moment. They have a lot of mental strength. They are a very physical team with a lot of quality. They do things very well and they get a lot out of it.”

Despite the euphoric mood in Seville, Villarreal will go for the win: “We always go out to win games. That won’t change. We’ll try to play our game, see where we can hurt them, we’ll look to overcome them. We know their strength and we will try to counter their weapons. We’ll try to do our best to get points and fight to get into Europe next season.”

Setién also recalls that there will be many moments in the Sevilla-Villarreal game: “There are many moments in a match. You don’t always and never have to do the same thing. They are the ones who choose on the pitch according to the situation. The proposal is to have the ball because we want to have control of the game. We have established guidelines and an order, but it’s the players who make the decisions within that structure.”

Finally, the Yellows head coach advocated keeping control of the ball to overcome Sevilla: “They are a very strong team physically. They have alternatives in terms of dangerous situations. It’s very difficult to control them and they’re going to compromise us at many moments. Then we have to see what we can do with the ball. If we have pace and calmness, we’ll be able to hurt Sevilla.”
