Villarreal Women have been defeated in their trip to face Valencia Women
Villarreal Women were unable to score in the first game of the second half of the 2022/23 Finetwork Liga F season against Valencia CF. The team coached by Sara Monforte lost 2-0 to Valencia CF thanks to goals from Marta Carro and Berta Pujadas.
The first half of the match was characterised by parity on the pitch. Both teams tried to take the lead, but neither could find the back of the net. In fact, barely eight minutes in, Ainoa crashed a powerful shot against the crossbar. For their part, the Valencians had up to three consecutive corner kicks, but their intentions were neutralised by the good performance of goalkeeper Carmen Carbonell. Both teams went into the changing rooms with the score deadlocked (0-0).
In the second half, Valencia CF dominated the early stages of the game. In fact, just six minutes after the restart, Marta Carro headed home from Asun’s cross to score the first goal (1-0). A few minutes later, Berta Pujadas got on the end of a rebound to score the second, and definitive, goal (2-0). The Yellows tried until the final whistle, but were unable to change the result.
Next up for Villarreal Women, corresponding to Matchday 17 of the 2022/23 Finetwork Liga F season, will take place on Saturday 28th January at 12pm CET at the Mini Estadi at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground against Deportivo Alavés.
