Villarreal B travel to El Toralín this Friday (4:15pm CET)
Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez spoke to the club’s official media ahead of the match against SD Ponferradina, which will take place on Friday 6th January at 4:15pm CET. The B team will have a tough match at El Toralín, which will be the first league match after the Christmas break.

Returning to competitive action
“Undoubtedly, we are very excited to be back in action. This break has gone very well and there has been a lot of hard work with the boys, as is to be expected, but now it’s time to compete”.
The opposition
“The situation, the change of coach and the potential they have as a team will make it a very difficult match. Sometimes, the potential of the teams doesn’t match the standings because when you get into a negative dynamic it’s difficult. It cost the coach his job.”
New manager
“David Gallego, who was a player of mine and who I like very much, has already been with them for a few games. He will want to impose his style and that is more difficult when you arrive at a team with the season underway and when the results are not positive, but you can already see the coach’s influence and they will have taken advantage of this break to work hard. They have tremendous potential in midfield. They are going to play very similar to the way they played with José Gomes. I’m convinced they’ll have a very good second half of the season, but if possible, they’ll start playing against us.”
The second half of the season
“The second tier is very difficult. The boys know that, we’ve passed it on to them and we’re working for it. In the second half of the season, all the teams will be reinforced. Our best reinforcements are going to be our own players, understanding the important objective we have and the difficulty on the road and trying to work individually to be better as a team every day”.
