Comesaña has advocated using home advantage to get the win against Panathinaikos (Thursday, 9pm CET)
Villarreal midfielder Santi Comesaña spoke to the media on Wednesday to analyse the build-up to the UEFA Europa League match against Panathinaikos.
“We want to continue with the winning dynamic. It’s important for us to qualify. We’ve just won in the cup and in LALIGA. Now we want to do it in Europe,” said the Galician midfielder.
Regarding their opponents, Comesaña highlighted the good game they played in Greece: “They are playing for qualification, just like us. They beat us and proved to be a good team. We have grown. We’re no longer the same team and we’re playing at home, which is a plus point for us.”
In the same way, he stressed that the Submarine are working to correct their defensive problems: “The head coach has put the focus on that. On being more solid at the back and we’re working on it. Now we are more intense and we run more than before. Little by little we are adapting to his ideas and things are going well. Marcelino has told us that you don’t get out of a bad run without suffering, but we’re getting through the games. Let’s see if we can win again.”
