Virginia García analysed the upcoming game for Villarreal Women against Deportivo Alavés (Saturday, 6pm CEST)
Villarreal Women head coach, Virginia García, appeared before the media in the press room of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground to talk about the match that the Yellows will play this Saturday against Deportivo Alavés at 6pm CEST on Pitch 5 of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
This is what she had to say:
An exciting start
“It’s a very exciting start. We are having very good feelings and not just in matches, because the training weeks are very good and I think it is a reflection of what we work on all week, and the results are coming out very positive. We have two wins and a clean sheet. However, this streak may come to an end, because the games are getting tougher and tougher. I’ve told the players to enjoy the moment and we’re going to stretch this run as long as possible.”
Two clean sheets
“We were very clear that we had to grow from defensive solidity. We’re working very well as a team and we’re also creating chances, which means we’re strong in both areas and that’s our trump card. We have to keep polishing the details, but we are happy with our work and we are going to keep working, because we have a lot of weapons that we haven’t shown yet.”
The opposition: Deportivo Alavés
“I expect a very difficult match. Deportivo Alavés is a team that has a strong project in the division, with veteran players who have experience in both Liga F and Primera RFEF. It’s going to be a very even match. I know their head coach, Andrea Esteban, very well and she tends to play very even and difficult matches. We’re motivated and excited about this game. The keys will continue to be solid, intense without the ball and with Villarreal more courageous offensively.”
