Villarreal welcome the Canaries with the aim of consolidating their work and getting back to winning ways in LALIGA (Sunday, 2pm CEST)
Villarreal CF welcome UD Las Palmas to the Estadio de la Cerámica this Sunday at 14.00. Just three days after a valuable and deserved European victory against a tough, physical and direct opponent like Stade Rennais (1-0).
The Yellows will try to give continuity to the good work displayed during certain stretches of the match against Girona -in the offensive phase- and Getafe -in the defensive phase-, in order to maintain the upward trend that they endorsed last Thursday in continental competition. An ambitious objective, which the team is tackling just a month after the arrival of José Rojo ‘Pacheta’ on the Submarine bench.
With a record of one win, two draws and one defeat in the LALIGA in the Pacheta era, Villarreal are now looking for another win in the domestic championship that will allow them to gain confidence and start an exciting climb towards the ever-demanding European places.
To take the first step, the Yellows will have to overcome UD Las Palmas. A newly-promoted rival who have shown themselves to be very solvent on the island (two wins and two draws), but who are still waiting for their chance to open their points haul away from Gran Canaria.
That does not mean that the islanders – who will have to do without their bright yellow colours for the occasion – are any less likely to be in contention for the win. The two sides head to La Cerámica level on eight points, in 13th and 14th position respectively.
