Villarreal B get an important win against Real Sporting with goals from Forés and Ontiveros

Villarreal B won 0-3 at El Molinón against Real Sporting to earn three vital points in what some fans have dubbed the ‘Mini Climb’ to achieve the goal of survival. The goals came from Forés, a brace, and Ontiveros.

The B team started the game dominating and, before the first ten minutes were up, Forés, Ontiveros and Pablo Iñiguez could have opened the scoring. Real Sporting also had a good chance in that electric opening period through former Yellows Academy player Mario González, but Iker Álvarez was impressive in the one-on-one.

It was a quarter of an hour into the game when the Mini Submarine took the lead. Álex Forés slotted home from a great assist from Hugo Novoa, who had left his opponents behind him by entering the box on the right flank. There was still a world to play for, but the lead gave Miguel Álvarez’s side plenty of life. With it, they had the confidence to play arguably their best football of the season so far, and Ontiveros scored the second of the afternoon after a great team move.

Just at the start of the second half, Novoa, in a counter-attack launched by Ontiveros, and Carlos Romero were able to score the third goal, which would give them much more peace of mind for the remainder of the match. The Yellows were still the better side, although Real Sporting also came close to scoring on a couple of occasions, although Iker Álvarez was on hand to stop them. With the game dormant due to the great possession of the away team, Álex Forés put the game to bed with a first-time shot from the edge of the area. Thus, the great triumph in Asturias was complete.

The Mini Submarine’s next match will take place on Friday 3rd May at 8:30pm CEST against Levante UD at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
