Villarreal head coach has highlighted the team’s reaction in several moments of the match despite the defeat at Son Moix
Villarreal head coach Quique Setién analysed the defeat against RCD Mallorca (4-2). He lamented the Submarine’s setback, who played almost the entire game with a numerical disadvantage at Son Moix: “The game was complicated for us after the sending off. Even so, we managed to equalise twice, but the game wasn’t in our favour. They got back into it too early on both occasions. We made a great physical effort, which forced us to leave space at the back and, after conceding the third, we were exhausted and tired.”
Setién praised the team’s effort in a tough match: “The players gave their all. We appreciate their effort. Lately, everything has gone wrong for us and we’re not in a very positive dynamic. We have to move forward and think about the future.”
He also stressed that the team must not lose faith: “I’m worried about the team’s dynamic because of the mood. I take positives from the game, but we have to be optimistic. We’re not out of sorts or disarmed. There have been four defeats. I don’t want to make excuses, but we lacked luck against Rayo, Elche and Mallorca. Everything has gone against us lately. This will come to an end.”
