
A total of seven Yellows players have been called up by their national team
Villarreal players Álex Baena, Ben Brereton, Aïssa Mandi, Juan Foyth, Ilias Akhomach and Iker Álvarez have been called up to their national teams during the current window of international commitments.
Álex Baena will have the opportunity to make his debut with the Spanish national team during his first call-up to the senior squad. La Roja will face Georgia and Cyprus in two qualifiers for Euro 2024.
The Algeria national team, led by Aïssa Mandi, will play an African Cup of Nations qualifier against Tanzania and a friendly a few days later against Senegal.
Ben Brereton will also defend Chile’s interests in their two World Cup qualifiers against Uruguay and Colombia. Similarly, Juan Foyth will do the same for Argentina against Ecuador and Bolivia.
Villarreal B goalkeeper Iker Álvarez will wear the Andorra jersey for two Euro 2024 qualifiers against Belarus and Switzerland.
Finally, Ilias Akhomach and Filip Jorgensen will join the Spain and Denmark U21 teams.
