Villarreal Women face seventh-placed Sevilla FC this Sunday (2pm CEST)
Villarreal Women head coach Sara Monforte appeared in front of the media ahead of the match against Sevilla FC (Sunday, 2pm CEST) at the Mini Estadi.
Here is what she had to say:
Strengthened after the game against FC Barcelona
“It’s hard to believe that after a game like that we can come out stronger, but that’s how it was. The team has taken some very positive things from it and we believe that if we are able to play like that against the rest of the teams, it won’t be difficult to achieve our objective. Against FC Barcelona, the team did an incredible job defensively and even offensively it was very good. So that’s the way forward.”
Making the Mini Estadi a fortress
“I think survival depends on the four games we have at the Mini Estadi, starting this Sunday against Sevilla FC. I think we have to get points in all four to be a bit calmer, and if we could get a point already this Sunday it would be great. In any case, we have to make a fortress here and keep a clean sheet, and that will be the way to do it.”
The opposition: Sevilla FC
“Sevilla FC, coached by Cristian Toro who knows the division very well, is a team that needs very little to score goals. They are also a very long team, with a lot of space between the lines, but they are very clear and, for example, they are very good in transition. They are very vertical, with key players like Martin-Prieto and Toni Payne. We can’t get distracted and we have to be very good defensively. It’s true that Sevilla have nothing at stake right now, which also makes them more dangerous. They’re also sure to be going all out, because they’re coming off the back of two games without a point and they’re going to want to get something positive out of it.”
