Villarreal CF has presented the Legends Match, a commemorative game between the Submarine’s most emblematic players and Spain legends, which will be played on Saturday 25th March at the Estadio de la Cerámica and will kick off at 5.30pm CET with a special tribute to the former players who have defended the colours and crest of Villarreal CF.

The presentation ceremony, held at the Teatre Tagoba in Vila-real, was attended by the president Fernando Roig, Vila-reañ mayor José Benlloch and former footballers Bruno Soriano, Marcos Senna and Adriano García, as well as Fernando Giner, president of Spain legends.

Former Yellows captains Bruno Soriano and Marcos Senna have also expressed their views on this beautiful date. “It’s a unique opportunity. I’m very excited to go into the dressing room once again, to wear the Villarreal shirt again and it will be a special day for me and for everyone,” said the former No.21. Meanwhile, Marcos Senna is looking forward to the game and is already preparing for it. “I’m training a bit to be fit enough to be able to play. At least I want to look good in the photo,” joked the Spanish-Brazilian.

The president of Spain legends, Fernando Giner, has highlighted the importance of memories during the celebration of a centenary: “It is very nice to remember matches and honour ex-players from other eras. It is a source of pride and a huge sense of belonging for its former players”.

Finally, Vila-real mayor, José Benlloch, wanted to thank and pay tribute to all those who have built the club during its 100 years of history: “Villarreal is known all over the world and is a spectacular ambassador for the province. Transmitting values is very important and we must be grateful to those who have made possible all that we have built together. This match and the centenary celebration is a tribute to everyone.”
