Nico Jackson aims to match Forlán’s best goalscoring streak

The forward has scored six goals in four consecutive games and is one away from equalling the club’s best record in the top flight

Nico Jackson is on a roll. The Senegalese striker scored a brace against Athletic Club (5-1) and has now scored four consecutive goals, having also scored against Valencia, Celta (2) and Espanyol.

If he scores again against Girona, Nico Jackson will equal the best run by a Villarreal player in the First Division, which belongs to Diego Forlán. The Uruguayan striker scored seven consecutive goals in five games (Gameweeks 15-19) in the 2004/05 campaign. The Uruguayan’s victims were Getafe, Málaga, Albacete, Barcelona (2) and Levante (2).

The best goalscoring runs of Villarreal players in LaLiga

Diego Forlán: seven goals in five games (15 to 19 of the 2004/05 season)

Nico Jackson: six goals in four games (31 to 34 of the 2022/23 season)

Carlos Bacca: six goals in four games (31 to 35 of the 2017/18 season*, Gameweek 34 was postponed)

Gerard Moreno: five goals in four games (1 to 4 of the 2019/20 season)

Giuseppe Rossi: four goals in four games (8 to 11 of the 2008/09 season)
