The B team lost to Mirandés in a game in which they came up halfway to a comeback
Villarreal B were narrowly beaten at Anduva by Mirandés, who took a two-goal lead. Later, Forés pulled one back, but his goal was not enough.
Miguel Álvarez’s men had control of the ball throughout the first half, in which chances were few and far between for both sides due to Mirandés’ tight defence. The home side tried their luck first with a one-on-one that Gianni saved brilliantly from Raúl. Later, it was Collado who had a chance for the Yellows, but his shot was dragged off target.
Carlos Romero, who played ahead of Tasende on the left flank with a double full-back, was dynamic on the wing and tried to link up with his team-mates in the final third. Gianni was attentive when needed, but in the last minute of the first half, Raúl managed to beat him from eleven yards after a penalty conceded by the Catalan goalkeeper on Pinchi.
In the first minutes of the second half, Carreira and Collado had the equaliser in their hands. After a good combination, the Galician player was set up in the six-yard box and decided to give the killer pass past the goalkeeper, but the player from Granada narrowly missed the ball.
Before the hour mark, a penalty was awarded for handball in the Mirandés box. It was a chance to equalise, but Herrero saved Sergio Lozano’s fine spot-kick. The home side took advantage of a Álex Martín shot from a corner to try to put the game to bed.
The Mini Submarine did not give up and Álex Forés pulled one back in the final stretch. However, Miguel Álvarez’s men were unable to complete the comeback in Anduva.
