The forward leaves Villarreal Women ahead of the upcoming season

Sheila Guijarro will not continue with the Yellows next season. The Valencian striker leaves Villarreal CF after having been part of the women’s first team for the last five seasons.

A top-class assassin in front of goal

Sheila joined the Yellows in the 2018/19 season. In 23 league games, plus the three she played in the FFCV Cup, she scored ten goals. From this moment on, she was to make a huge difference for Villarreal Women.

In the 2019/20 campaign, in 21 games she managed seven goals. However, the real turning point came in the 2020/21 season. With Villarreal Women fighting to reach the top flight, Sheila was the top scorer in Reto Iberdrola (16 goals); meaning she scored 1 goal every 1.37 games.

In the Yellows’ debut in the First Division, she was once again the team’s top scorer (eight goals), to which a goal against Real Sociedad in their debut in the Copa de la Reina must be added.

In the current campaign, the Valencian striker has been the seventh top scorer in the Liga F, as well as Villarreal Women’s ‘killer’, with 13 goals.

A name that will go down in Villarreal Women hsitroy

Sheila Guijarro has become, over these five seasons, the player who has played the most games (132) and scored the most goals (55) in that period. In other words, she has scored 0.41 goals per game. Because of this, before her farewell, Juan Carlos Malabia and Marcos Senna, representatives of Villarreal CF, presented the player with a commemorative shirt for having surpassed the barrier of 125 official games with Villarreal Women.

Villarreal would like to thank her for her commitment to the club during the years she has worn the yellow jersey, as well as wishing her good luck and success in her new professional career.
