Miguel Álvarez has highlighted the high performance level of Leganés, who they will face this Saturday at 9pm CET at the Mini Estadi

Villarreal B coach, Miguel Álvarez, appeared in front of the media ahead of the game against CD Leganés, corresponding to Matchday 18 of the 2022/23 LaLiga SmartBank season, which will take place this Saturday at 9pm CET at the Mini Estadi. The Mini Submarine coach underlined the great form of their upcoming opponent in recent matches, so he expects a complicated game.

Here are his key quotes:

Injury update

“We’re going to the game in good shape. There are guys who had some minor niggles from the previous game, but everyone will be fine for Leganés.”

The match

“In the last few weeks, Leganes have been the best team in the competition. They have 14 points from four wins and two draws. They are a team that will be at the top of the table at the end of the season. We’re expecting a very difficult game, but at home we’re a reliable team and we’re going to try to stay that way.”

Leganés

“I would mainly highlight the team as a group. They’re a team that, with few chances, are capable of winning games. They’re an opponent capable of defending in a low block, they feel comfortable like that. They are also capable of going forward, of playing associative football. Defensively, the numbers speak for themselves, but their front three are also in great form”.

The importance of efficiency

“In football, efficiency is vital and even more so against a team like Leganés so. They are an opponent who are capable of defending in a low block and they don’t have any problems. Even if they play with four defenders, they turn it into five without the ball. It’s difficult, but at home we want to continue in the good form.”

Pau Torres’ first start at the World Cup

“For the academy it is incredible. He has had many coaches, there are many people here who work in the shadows and they are the most important. That’s why those of us at the top have to recognise and value that effort, but not only with Pau, but also with Yeremy or Baena or the fact that Collado is now going with the first team”.
