Villarreal will be looking for a win this Sunday at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán (9pm CEST)

Villarreal CF face Sevilla FC this Sunday at 9pm CEST at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, in the match corresponding to Gameweek 30 of the 2022/23 LaLiga season. The Submarine come into the game after losing at home to Real Valladolid (1-2), so they will be looking to get back on track and return to winning ways.

Quique Setién’s side are aiming to stay in contention for the European places. Villarreal CF are currently in sixth place with 47 points, just one point behind Real Betis in fifth place and four points behind Real Sociedad, who are in the Champions League places. The Yellows want to keep looking up. Before last weekend’s defeat, the Submarine were on a roll, having won five and drawn one of their last six games.

Sevilla FC, meanwhile, are in euphoric mood after beating Manchester United 3-0 in the quarter-finals of the UEFA Europa League and sealing qualification for the next round of the continental competition. In LaLiga, their momentum is also impressive. They have beaten Valencia CF (0-2), drawn with RC Celta at home (2-2) and won against Cádiz CF at the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla (0-2).

The previous meetings between the two teams have been very even in recent times: two wins for the Submarine, three draws and two victories for the Andalusian side. The last match between the two sides ended in a draw at the Ciutat de València (1-1), where the Yellows equalised through Álex Baena.
