The Villarreal president expressed his emotion and thanked all those who feel the passion for the club
Very emotional. Villarreal CF president Fernando Roig lifted the UEFA Europa League together with the team captains and in front of the attentive gaze of almost 20,000 groguets, who enjoyed the impressive Centenary Party at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
During the ceremony, the president was happy and had words of thanks to all those who feel Villarreal CF is theirs: “Congratulations to everyone for 100 years. To everyone who has built and cares about Villarreal. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to being what we are today. It is an eternal feeling, which we will keep up for many years to come. I am thrilled and very excited”.
Villarreal captains Raúl Albiol, Manu Trigueros, Gerard Moreno, Pau Torres and Dani Parejo also addressed the fans:
- Parejo: “You have given me a very warm welcome. I’ve been here for three years and I’m really enjoying it at Villarreal. I’m very happy here. Hopefully we can win a title in our centenary year, which would be very special for the club.”
- Gerard: “You know how I feel about Villarreal since I arrived. All your love. You are very important to me, what I feel for this club is immense. Thank you for all the affection you show me. I hope I continue to be successful at this great club.”
- Trigueros: “I have been here for 12 years. I am very happy. I was very moved by the Tornarem song. Time goes by very quickly. I try to enjoy every year. I hope we have another great year like we did two years ago. Thank you all for coming to celebrate.”
- Pau Torres: “Thank you very much for being here and for joining us on such a special day. It is the centenary of our team. You are always with us and thank you for accompanying us in our growth. We have a new pitch and we want to enjoy the centenary with enthusiasm and fight for a new title.”
- Raúl Albiol: “It is an honour for me to be here, to be part of this great club and to enjoy the fans. I can only say thank you for all the love. I feel very much loved. We want to fight for another title. We would like to win the Conference and we are going to try.”
