Dani Parejo predicts a very competitive and intense first leg against Anderlecht

Villarreal midfielder Dani Parejo appeared alongside Quique Setién at the press conference prior to the match against RSC Anderlecht, corresponding to the first leg of the UEFA Europa Conference League round of 16, which will be played this Thursday at 6:45pm CET at the Anderlecht Stadium.

Confident ahead of the Conference League

“We’re coming in with a good feeling. We are coming into the game on the back of a home win against Getafe, with a comeback, and another away win after a long time against Almería, who are the third best home side in the league and where we did very well. We know that Europe is a different story and they are always special games. I hope we play well and get a positive result.”

Aiming to win in Belgium

“Away goals don’t count and we want to win the first leg. We know that there is a second leg and a lot can happen, but tomorrow the team must go out for a good result.”

A battle for possession

“They are a team that is not where they want to be in the league. They may have a lot of desire in Europe. We know they are a team that likes to combine. I think it will be a competitive and intense game and we’ll see who can get hold of the ball.”

A European dream to continue in the Conference

“Europe makes us enjoy it. We’ve been enjoying it for two years… reaching the semi-finals of the Champions League and winning the Europa League. Now we have the Conference, a new competition, which excites us. Villarreal always want to win in Europe.”
