Virginia García underlines that the team has a great opportunity to turn things around at the Training Ground

Villarreal Women head coach, Virginia García, appeared before the club’s media microphones to analyse the upcoming match against Alhama CF. “We’ve taken stock of what we’ve done well and what we’ve done badly in the first half of the season. We have seen what things we need to improve. Being stronger at home means starting 2025 with a win,” she emphasised when speaking to Villarreal TV.

Meanwhile, she pointed out that Villarreal need to achieve consistency at home: “We are one of the best visitors in the category, but our inconsistency at home is weighing us down and that’s why we’re not where we’d like to be. We have been self-critical and we have focused on what we need to improve for tomorrow. We are aware of the situation and we want to change it in the second half.”

As for the opposition, Virginia highlighted their verticality and defined identity: “They steal and look for the opposition goal quickly. They have experience and the players have been together for a long time. They know each other well. They attack well in depth and generate a lot with crosses from the flanks. We have to control that.”

In the same way, she coach stressed that the way to a win is to be brave and to connect well: “We are clear about the game Alhama are playing. They are clear about what they want to play and analyse what kind of game they are going to play. We have to have personality and courage on the ball, which we lacked in the first round. We want to improve in attack and get back to being a solid team. It will be a similar game because they are very faithful to their style.”
