Sara Monforte’s team deserved more after a good performance against Rayo Vallecano
Villarreal Women came away from their visit to Vallecas with a point. Sara Monforte’s side drew against Rayo Vallecano (2-2) in a match where the Yellows looked good and deserved a win.
The Submarine started the match behind on the scoreboard, but were able to turn things around before the break. In the tenth minute, the home side capitalised on a set piece to open the scoring through Isadora.
Ten minutes later, Villarreal Women fought back, with a Belén Martínez goal. Before half-time, the Yellows turned the tie round completely, with a second goal, this time scored by Raquel Pinel. The Submarine went into the break ahead on the scoreboard.
After half-time, the Yellows once more had control of the game. However, in the 55th minute, once more from a set piece, Rayo Vallecano scored, levelling the tie through Andújar, with her effort deflecting off Pinel.
Villarreal Women had more chances than their opponents, and refereeing decisions denied the Yellows two penalties after the home team handballed it in the area. At the end of the match, Sara Monforte was sent off.
