Villarreal join Marta and María’s fight

The club supports the appeal of the little sisters from Castellón, whose life expectancy depends on a drug called Miglustat

Villarreal CF joins the fight of Marta and María, two little sisters from Castellón who suffer from Batten CLN6 disease, a genetic, neurogenerative pathology with no cure. Little Marta and María visited the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground this Thursday to meet the Villarreal CF players and receive a signed shirt from the squad, which will be part of a raffle to raise funds. The club will promote this campaign, amplifying its visibility through the Endavant Solidaritat initiative.

Unfortunately, the little girls’ hope and quality of life now depends on a drug called Miglustat, which costs 5,909 euros per month for each of the patients. The public health system has agreed to finance this expensive treatment for Maria. Marta, on the other hand, has not been granted because her disease is more advanced, making it more difficult to assess the effectiveness of the drug.

Despite the refusal of the public administration, her paediatricians recommend that treatment should also be started for little Marta, whose hope and quality of life now depend on it. Faced with this delicate situation, the ‘Marta and María CLN6 Association’ is focusing all its efforts on raising funds to pay for Marta’s treatment for 12 months.

The goal is to raise 70,908 euros to pay for Miglustat for a year, in the hope that the public health system will again be able to consider financing the treatment for Marta as well.

In order to raise the necessary funds, the ‘Marta and María CLN6 Association’ has organised a big party with activities, a street market, charity snacks and musical performances, as well as a big raffle in which different sports clubs and other entities will participate. This charity event will be held in the Carmen Albert Park in Castellón, located in the area of the UJI, on 2nd June from 5pm.
