Villarreal Sibiu Academy becomes the newest member of the international Villarreal Academy family
Villarreal CF continues its international expansion with the opening of Villarreal Sibiu Academy, the club’s first official academy in Romania, following a collaboration agreement with ASFC Interstar Sibiu. This partnership has been made possible thanks to the mediation of Football Events Spain and reinforces the club’s commitment to grassroots football development on a global scale.
Villarreal Sibiu Academy joins Villarreal CF’s international network of academies, which currently includes more than 30 partner centres around the world, from the United States to Australia, as well as Mexico, Malaysia, the United Arab Emirates and South Korea. With this new addition, Romania becomes part of Villarreal CF’s global map, consolidating its presence in Eastern Europe.
“I founded ASFC Interstar Sibiu in 2004 with the aim of offering children in Sibiu the best possible conditions for their sporting and personal development. This collaboration with Villarreal CF opens new doors for our young players, who will now have the opportunity to learn first-hand about the Spanish methodology and experience unique opportunities alongside a top European club,” said Caius Bară, president of ASFC Interstar Sibiu and director of the new academy.
For his part, Daniel Murăşan, sporting director of Villarreal Sibiu Academy and a UEFA A-licensed coach, underlined the importance of the agreement: “Our mission will be to implement Villarreal CF’s methodology and philosophy at every level of training, ensuring that both players and coaches receive the highest possible standard of education. This project represents a major step forward for Sibiu and for Romanian football.”
The launch of this academy follows several successful Villarreal CF camps held in the region and marks the beginning of a long-term collaboration focused on youth development, coach education and cultural and sporting exchange between Spain and Romania.
Finally, Brandon Páramo, Villarreal CF’s international business manager, concluded: “We are delighted to announce the opening of Villarreal Sibiu Academy. This new project will create real opportunities for players and coaches to grow under Villarreal CF’s values and methodology. It also reinforces our commitment to the club’s global expansion and to promoting youth football in new international markets.”
