The Mini Submarine were defeated in a match where they deserved more

The Mini Submarine were beaten by Levante UD at the Estadio de la Cerámica. The visitors’ effectiveness in front of goal was the difference between the two sides. The Yellows failed to convert the various chances they had throughout the game, while the visitors scored practically every chance they had.

Villarreal B and Levante UD met on the La Cerámica pitch in a key match for both teams, although with different objectives. On the one hand, the Yellows were looking to pick up three points in order to secure their survival in the final stretch of the season. On the other hand, the away side would try to take the victory from Vila-real to get closer to the promotion playoffs and to make their last chances of promotion to the top flight a reality.

Although the first approach of the match came from Carlos Romero, who made a move inside the box that ended with an unorthodox shot that did not trouble Andrés Fernández, the first blow of the match came from a set-piece for Levante UD. In an area close to the edge of the area, Pablo Martinez dared with a potent shot that Iker Alvarez was unable to deal with and Álex Muñoz, on the rebound, sent the ball into the back of the net to make it 0-1.

The Mini Submarine did not give up despite the goal and were superior to their opponents for much of the first half. There were five great chances for Miguel Álvarez’s side which, unfortunately, did not result in a goal. A one-on-one from Novoa, a cross from Pablo Iñiguez that flew along the goal line and which neither Pau Navarro nor Forés could reach, and a long-range shot from Ontiveros were the clearest chances for a Villarreal B side that deserved more in the first half.

In the 37th minute, the Yellows’ inefficiency was doubly punished with another Levante UD goal. Brugué made no mistake in a one-on-one situation against Iker Álvarez to score the second goal before the interval.

The second half started in the worst way for Villarreal B. Levante, from a cross, scored the third goal of the game through Dani Gómez, who beat his marker to shoot past Iker Álvarez with his right foot.

Miguel Álvarez looked for a reaction from his side by reshuffling the pack. Jorge Pascual, Rodri Alonso, Requena, Collado and Tiago came on during the second half to help his side.

In the end, Levante UD took the win in a game in which Villarreal B deserved more, especially in the first half, where they had great chances to score more than one goal.

Villarreal B will visit SD Amorebieta in their next match in LALIGA HYPERMOTION. Miguel Álvarez’s side will play another key match for survival at the Nuevo Urritxe next Sunday, kick-off at 2pm, in the match corresponding to Matchday 39 of the second division.
