The Yellows join forces with the soccer club from Utah
Through the Villarreal Academy international expansion project, Villarreal CF have reached a collaboration agreement with Provo Athletic Club (PAC) based in Provo, Utah in the United States. Thus, Provo Athletic Club is now an official affiliate soccer club of Villarreal CF.
PAC will work hand in hand with Villarreal CF to implement the Yellows’ innovative methodology for the development of its players and coaches. Tryouts will be held from 24th May to 3rd June with a Villarreal CF coach in attendance. Selected players from PAC will have the chance to visit Villarreal CF in Spain to take part in the Player Training Week and Team Playing Experience programs in which they train with or play against Villarreal’s youth teams.
The Utah-based soccer club has up to 20 teams ranging from U5 to U23 with almost 300 players in its ranks. Ahead of the collaboration announcement PAC director, Ludwig Sánchez, said, “We were amazed with how Villarreal focuses on the community before anything else. The emphasis Villarreal put on their academy’s development shows how committed they are to help the youth in every aspect of their development. We really relate to Villarreal in this way because for us it’s important to always consider every effort we put into this is for our community.”
Sánchez believes this collaboration will provide players in Utah with very valuable opportunities. “We are a multicultural club, we promote diversity, and with this collaboration we’ll create bridges that will offer an even bigger multicultural atmosphere for our players. This will not only offer a perspective from how the game is played on this side of the world but also provide international cultural experiences that will be a great foundation for the development of our players. And of course, soccer-wise, this will have a tremendous impact on their development to then have better opportunities in their careers.”
Provo Athletic Club is Villarreal’s tenth connection in the United States, with this being an affiliation between two clubs, the Yellows also boast official partner academies in the states of Virginia, Nebraska, North Carolina, New York, Texas, Las Vegas, Indiana and Illinois.
