The Yellow Submarine open a new international academy in the Canadian city of Edmonton

Villarreal Alberta Academy is now a reality. The Yellows have opened a new international academy in Canada. Open to youngsters between eight and 15 years old, the academy offers a unique opportunity to young talents in the area who will receive training under the Yellows Academy methodology. The academy currently works with more than 100 players.

Villarreal Alberta will not only give young footballers from the city of Edmonton, and the whole province of Alberta, the chance to train under the methodology of the current UEFA Europa League champions, but they will also be able to travel to Spain to train at the Villarreal CF Training Ground, and even play friendly matches against Yellows Academy sides.

Villarreal Alberta Academy director Jorge Rodríguez underlined his happiness at this agreement with the Yellows: “Ever since I stopped playing professionally, I’ve worked very hard to continue staying in the sport professionally. I wanted to work with a club that had the same vision as I do, as I’ve always seen myself helping children through the academy. Villarreal CF is that and much more. They have a family environment and they are the current UEFA Europa League champions: We’re very grateful and we couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity for our academy.”

The academy in Edmonton is Villarreal CF’s second in Canada, after Villarreal Montreal Academy. The Villarreal Academy international expansion project has international academies in countries such as the USA, Mexico, Bolivia, Israel, Australia, and South Korea, among others.
