Setién: “A draw would have been the fairest result”

The Villarreal head coach says his side deserved to get something against Sevilla

Villarreal head coach Quique Setién expressed his regret that his side failed to get anything from their visit to Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán after a hard-fought game that ended 2-1. “They pressed us aggressively at the start of the game and it was difficult for us at the beginning. Later on we were better, coming out with the ball and having several clear chances in which we deserved to score. In the second half there were more alternatives with a permanent dispute. Both teams wanted to win and in the end the game was decided by a set piece,” analysed Setién.

Setién believes that a draw would have been the fairest result: “A draw would have been the fairest result because there were alternatives. There were many situations where we could have hurt them. We lacked the ability to finish our chances better.”

For the Yellows coach, the move in which the ball hit Fernando’s arm inside the area is controversial: “There are too many people confused about handballs. It’s a matter that needs to be sorted out as soon as possible. Let’s see if we can reach an agreement. There is tremendous confusion.”
