Sara Monforte: “We’re ready”

The Villarreal Women head coach assured that the team is focused and will give their all against Sporting Club de Huelva (Sunday, 12pm CEST)

Villarreal Women head coach, Sara Monforte, appeared before the media this afternoon to analyse the match against Sporting Club de Huelva, which will be played on Sunday at 12pm CEST on Andalusian soil.

During the press conference, the head coach expressed her determination and faith in her team, who face a ‘final’ against the Huelva side: “It’s going to be a war. Sporting are a team who are always in the fight for salvation and end up doing so. They’re a strong team in the fights and they have very powerful players. They need very little to score against you. We have to take the game to our ground and minimise their strong points.”

To achieve victory, Sara Monforte explains that Villarreal Women will have to deal well with the pressure: “We have to do a lot of things well: be attentive to second balls, win the duels and be accurate in both areas. We also have to be mentally strong and not let it bother us when we’re playing away from home. We’re aware that we’re playing for the same things as them.”

If there’s one thing this team knows, it’s how to fight until the last minute. The head coach, who saved the Submarine last season after a great final stretch of the championship, is convinced that her players will give everything to achieve victory: “The team will give 200%. We’re giving our all and we’ll do everything we can to earn that win. The girls are making a great effort. The team knows what we’re going for. Huelva know what they are doing, but so do we. We are ready to face a final like this.”

Finally, Monforte had words of encouragement for Irene Miguélez, who has suffered a serious knee injury: “It’s a very tough injury. Irene is a strong player. She is fine. She is a player we all love very much. I’ve known her for a long time. She has a great environment: her father is a coach and they know that this is part of football. She is a great sportswoman and she will come back much stronger.”
