The defender received a commemorative shirt from Marcos Senna in the build-up to the match against RCD Mallorca
Raúl Albiol has been recognised for having passed the milestone of 200 official games for Villarreal CF. In the build-up to the game against RCD Mallorca, the Yellows No.3 was presented with a commemorative shirt by the club’s legend and current ambassador Marcos Senna, while the fans gave their captain a standing ovation.
The defender from Vilamarxant has worn the Villarreal shirt for the last six seasons. He is also the third player in the current squad to reach this impressive number of appearances for the Submarine after Gerard Moreno (288) and Dani Parejo (210).
During his time with the Submarine, Raúl Albiol has been a key player in the club’s two biggest recent successes: winning the UEFA Europa League in the 2020/21 campaign and reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA Champions League in the 2021/22 season. The 39-year-old defender also has a long and successful career at top clubs, as well as being a legend with the Spanish national team, with whom he lifted three titles from 2008 to 2012.
