Villarreal CF condemn and denounce the assault on two fans after yesterday’s match
Last night after the match between Villarreal CF and Valencia CF in the areas surrounding the Estadio de la Cerámica a group of people physically assaulted two Villarreal fans who had to be taken to the Hospital de La Plana.
Both fans, with intellectual disabilities, suffered various injuries. One of them, who plays for the Villarreal EDI (team with intellectual disabilities), spent the night under observation to undergo tests for contusions, while the other fan was taken to the Castellón General Hospital, where he remains after suffering a complete maxillofacial fracture.
Villarreal CF would like to reiterate the club’s absolute condemnation and utmost repudiation of any act of violence in any form, which has no place in football and society, and wishes to show its support for those affected, with whom it has been in permanent contact and collaboration since the aggression.
The club is also cooperating with the National Police and will use all means at its disposal to identify the aggressors.
