Sheila Guijarro’s goal was not enough to beat the in-form side
Villarreal Women fought tooth and nail against Levante UD, currently third in the Finetwork Liga F, but it was not enough to cause an upset. The lone goal for the Yellows came from Sheila Guijarro, while the home side’s goals were scored by Paula Fernández, Alba Redondo and Mayra Ramírez.
The goalkeepers of both teams were the main figures of the first half. In fact, Tarazona saved Villarreal Women’s clearest shot on target from Sheila Guijarro. For her part, Carmen Carbonell had more work to do, stopping the constant attempts by Alba Redondo and Mayra Ramírez. However, she could do nothing about Paula Fernández’s powerful long-range effort, which made it 1-0 in the 36th minute.
In the second half, the Yellows started the second half with a fast start. Sheila Guijarro, the Yellows’ top scorer, beat the Levante goalkeeper. However, the joy of the equaliser was short-lived. Just three minutes later, Alba Redondo received a cross, which she managed to control and send into the back of the net without difficulty. The gap in the scoreboard widened with Levante UD’s third goal thanks to Mayra, who cut inside Carbonell and shot into an empty net.
