Villarreal B face Levante this Saturday at 6.30pm CEST at La Cerámica
Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared at the press conference ahead of the last game of the season at the Estadio de la Cerámica, which will take place this Saturday at 6.30pm CEST against a very strong opponent, Levante UD.
Here is what the Mini Submarine head coach had to say:
Staying on the right path
“We have stayed in the division and we have to keep working. Everything is normal, in the dressing room it seems as if nothing has happened. Of the last few months, this week has been great in terms of training. The lads are staying on track.”
Two games left with survival sealed
“The objective remains the same: to match the first round. We scored 28 points and we are going to try to do the same. If we were close to our objective, we were on our way to survival. We can’t get away from the day-to-day: we have to work and compete. We have to be good professionals and that means approaching these two games like the other 40 matches in LaLiga.”
The match
“The people who will come will help us a lot with their encouragement. We hope that every day there will be more people. We are happy with the people who are coming, who are very loyal. As for Levante, I would highlight their head coach and the great squad they have. It’s a team with a lot of resources, people with a lot of size… They have brutal set-piece numbers; 50%. A positional attack, a commitment to football that is very associative. Javi has given the team a quality that is brutal. They have pressure and that can punish them.”
Balance
“We are very happy for two reasons: we had a lot of young people on the path that we started to work on in Villaitana in July, and now the players have great quality. We have competed in a difficult category, very tough, with very experienced teams, in which we have competed very well throughout the year. In addition, we have helped the first team. We have a lot of people with a lot of potential for the near future.”
The needs of the opponents
“We have prepared for the match like any other match. We have to capitalise on their weaknesses and bring out our strengths. We can’t deviate from the journy. We’re going to compete as we always do. We also have a club need, it’s also important for our players for their future. We will compete until the end to be as high as possible. If we do things right, we have a chance of winning too.”
