The Mini Submarine boss believes that Saturday’s clash at El Alcoraz will be very evenly matched

Villarreal B head coach Miguel Álvarez appeared at the press conference ahead of the match against SD Huesca, corresponding to Matchday 6 of LALIGA Hypermotion, which will take place on Saturday 16 September at 4:15pm CEST at El Alcoraz.

These are the his key statements:

The form of the team

“When you have a good result, it always helps you a little bit during the week. This is a team that trains at a very high level and we haven’t had any complaints this week, but getting a positive result always gives you a plus.”

A point at a tough ground

“I said that Sant Pasqual appeared, but he also appeared to them a little bit because there were some plays such as penalties and sending offs that they were forgiven. Then they hounded us a little bit, but in that hounding Forés and Lanchi could have made it 2-3. We’ve regained our strength, we can’t focus on our weaknesses. Scoring two goals in Ferrol is not easy. We have work to do this year, but little by little the team will improve and we will recover some important players.”

Morro and Lekovic

“In the case of the goalkeeper, the conditional part is less noticeable. Stefan asked us to replace him because he came in on Matchday 5 without any competitive rhythm and that’s normal. If we believe he is an important player who will help us, we will give him minutes. He will be 19 in January and we have to work with young players, but that youth allows us to be optimistic. He will improve his language and conceptually what we want from him.”

The match in Huesca

“I expect a match like last year’s, very close and evenly matched. There we lost 1-0 with a direct free kick goal and here we drew 0-0. Cuco Ziganda’s teams are always very hard-working. Now they won’t be very happy with the results. We’re going to focus on our strengths, although we’re obviously working on other aspects. Let’s see if we can get something positive out of Huesca.”

Start of the season

“We feel good. The four points don’t reflect it, but we knew that this year was going to be complicated because we changed 16 players and defensively we were not able to work much in pre-season because there were players with the first team. We are very happy and the team will be collectively strong, but this year it won’t be all so quick. We have to keep working and trusting in them.”
