The Villarreal head coach underlined the need for his team to be at their best to get a win in Valladolid (Saturday, 2pm CEST)
Villarreal head coach Marcelino García Toral appeared in front of the media to analyse the upcoming match against Real Valladolid, corresponding to Matchday 11 of the 2024/25 LALIGA EA Sports season, at 2pm CEST at the Nuevo Estadio José Zorrilla.
In his opening comments, Marcelino reviewed the injury situation: “Ayoze and Costa look like they will be available for the game. We don’t know yet whether they will start or come on during the course of the game. Foyth, Pedraza and Denis are still out. Eric is also out with a shoulder problem, although it is expected to be of less importance than it seemed. We also have Willy Kambwala back.”
Furthermore, he doesn’t think that it’s necessary to recover the good sensations in Pucela as much as the positive results: “The sensations aren’t bad. In Madrid we gave a good image and we were competitive. We lacked the audacity and intensity to create more chances, while against Getafe the game got away from us in a specific situation, but the team was very good. The intention is to improve the dynamic by getting a win, but we mustn’t forget that Valladolid are dangerous at home.”
Despite the Submarine’s good results away from La Cerámica, Marcelino has assured that Valladolid will demand the maximum from the Groguets: ‘We will have to be at our best. I’m not in favour of thinking that, because we’ve done well away, we’ll continue to do so. We have to know that Valladolid will demand a lot from us and we have to know how to play to win.” “They are a team that attacks quickly.
‘They are a team that attack quickly, with fast transitions, who get a lot of people into the box, very vertical on the wings. They link up well and have had very close results at their ground. The result will depend on accuracy. We will try not to give them options, be solid and then we want to take control of possession. We have to be more incisive than we have been in recent games. We have to get as many times as possible into the box and make sure our opponents get as few chances as possible,” said Marcelino.
