Marcelino is expecting a tough and intense match against Stade Rennais (Thursday, 6:45pm CET)
Villarreal CF head coach, Marcelino García Toral, appeared before the media along with his player Étienne Capoue at the press conference prior to the match against Stade Rennais, which will be played tomorrow Thursday, from 6:45pm CET, at Rhoazon Park.
These were the most important statements made by the coach:
On Stade Rennais
“Their physical level is strong, which is common for French teams. They are a team we had a hard time beating at home. Tomorrow we have to win again and that’s how we’ll try to do it. We know that they will demand a high tempo from us, but we will try to impose our weapons on the pitch.”
Feelings and importance of the match
“We have to win. Being top of the group means skipping a play-off, which is an important prize. Winning would also show that the team is doing well, despite the final ten minutes of the first half against Real Sociedad. This is the way forward. We have the illusion and the conviction that we can win this game.”
What match to expect
“We must be patient. We will try to match their pace and intensity, but with patience because the game will be long and even. We know that winning away from home is difficult and even more so in Europe, but we are capable of competing against any opponent. We have the illusion and ambition to play a great game.”
Physical level of the team
“We played our last game five days ago, enough time to recover. We know that we have a lot of games this month and we have to face it with the illusion of winning as many as possible.”
