Quique Setién has warned of the difficulty of the game against Elche despite the opposition’s negative run of form

Villarreal CF head coach Quique Setién has appeared at the press conference ahead of the match against Elche CF, corresponding to Gameweek 20 of the 2022/23 LaLiga Santander season, which will be played this Saturday at the Estadio Martínez Valero, with kick-off at 4.15pm CET.

Here are the key points he had to make:

The match against Elche

“It’s a very difficult game. We don’t want to be the first team that Elche beat, which could happen because they’re bound to at least once in the league this season. They are a team who do things well, who work hard, who put in some extraordinary physical performances and who come together very well when they have to defend.”

The team morale after the defeat to Rayo

“The other day we proved that the option of losing also exists even when you do things right. I am very happy with a large part of the game we played and, after watching it again, the feeling I have is the same.”

Elche’s current situation

“I’m sure they’ve forgotten about the standings and the fact that they haven’t won a game. They are not a team who are despondent because we have seen them compete against every opponent despite their situation, they compete in every game and they are going to make things very difficult for us.”

Away fans

“We always ask for their support. It’s fantastic to have them with us because feeling the people close to us is an extra motivation and we’ll try to make sure that both they and we come back with great joy.”
