Villarreal Women had the difficult challenge of taking on FC Barcelona, who have yet to drop a point this season in the Finetwork Liga F. Despite their best efforts, they were unable to spring a surprise.
Sara Monforte’s side started brightly as Tere Morató struck first in the eighth minute of the game, although the goal was disallowed for offside. For their part, FC Barcelona were looking to get closer to the goal without letting up in their efforts. A cross from Salma Paralluelo was the source of the first goal for the Blaugrana. Claudia Pina headed the ball into the back of the net for Oshoala (1-0). Shortly before half-time, Paralluelo scored the second goal (2-0) with a powerful shot into the top corner.
It is worth highlighting the two great saves by the Yellows goalkeeper Carmen Carbonell, which prevented the Culés from going into the break with a bigger lead.
After half-time, FC Barcelona managed to extend their lead with a goal from Graham (3-0), after dribbling past the goalkeeper. And again Graham was in charge, in the 85th and 90th minute, to score two more goals for the Catalan team (5-0).
Villarreal Women’s next match, which will be the quarter-final of the Copa de la Reina, will take place on Thursday 9th March at 9pm CET against Real Madrid at the Mini Estadi at the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground. As for their next Finetwork Liga F match, the Yellows will play again at the Mini Estadi on Sunday 12th March, at 12pm CET, against Alhama CF ElPozo.
