Quique Setién’s side lost on Matchday 4 of the season
Villarreal were defeated on their visit to the Estadio Nuevo Mirandilla in Cádiz. Sorloth gave Villarreal the lead in the first half, but goals from Chris Ramos and Darwin Machís (2) turned the game around.
The visitors were able to take an early lead in the match. In the tenth minute of the match, Sorloth took advantage of a poor pass inside the box from Iza to Ledesma and took the ball and, after getting away from the Argentinian goalkeeper, put Villarreal ahead on the scoreboard.
However, the joy was not to last for Quique Setién’s side. Chris Ramos took advantage of a dead ball in the six-yard box after a good save by Jörgensen from Luis Hernández to equalise in the 18th minute.
The bad news continued to go against the side from Vila-real. Alfonso Pedraza was shown a red card in the 22nd minute after an altercation with Iván Alejo and Sorloth, injured, left his place on the pitch to Morales.
Cádiz, who grew as the minutes went by, came from the penalty spot in the 30th minute. Darwin Machis scored from the penalty spot after Jorgensen’s foul on Chris Ramos.
Villarreal looked for an equaliser before the break with runs from Morales and Yeremy Pino behind the Cádiz centre-backs. However, the home side went ahead at the end of the first half.
Darwin Machís made further ground early in the second half with a long-range effort that hit the post before finding its way into Jörgensen’s net.
Setién, sent off at half-time, moved the bench around in the 70th minute of the game. Ben Brereton Díaz and Santi Comesaña came on in place of Yeremy Pino and Álex Baena. Later, Capoue and Comesaña came on for Yeremy and Álex Baena.
In the end, Villarreal, who did not trouble the home goalkeeper too much, lost 3-1 in Cádiz. The Yellows will be back in action after the two-week international break when they take on UD Almería on Sunday 17th September at 4:15pm at the Estadio de la Cerámica.
