Sheila Guijarro, the dangerwoman for the Submarine, got the equaliser against Real Betis Balompié
Villarreal Women, who had accumulated foir points from their last two games, picked up another point against direct rivals Real Betis Balompié. The Yellows knew how to suffer from start to finish, with Sheila Guijarro the architect of their goal.
Villarreal Women were up against it in the game from almost the start. In fact, in the ninth minute, Laurina made the most of a defensive mix-up to score past Carmen Carbonell (1-0). The Andalusian side came forward and tried several more attacks, but without success. For their part, the Yellows were able to suffer during the first 45 minutes and had the clearest chance almost with time running out, when Sheila managed to get on the end of an aerial ball, but her header went over the bar.
In the second half, Sara Monforte’s team managed to create more danger in the opponent’s area. In fact, Sheila Guijarro scored the equaliser in the 54th minute (1-1) to make the game more exciting. The Yellows continued their relentless onslaught. The Submarine had another chance in the 65th minute, but neither Llompart nor Estefa could finish Sheila’s pass. In the final seconds of the game, Real Betis had a chance with a powerful shot from almost midfield, but Carmen Carbonell pulled off a spectacular save to secure a very important point for Villarreal Women.
