Villarreal CF once again supports the charity event in which 50 athletes took part
Villarreal CF has once again supported the Down Syndrome Golf Tournament in Castellón at the Mediterráneo Golf facilities.
Last Saturday morning, around 50 athletes took part in the tournament, which had the collaboration of more than 30 companies through the “Contamos Contigo” programme of Síndrome de Down Castellón, for the development of social responsibility actions.
The aim of this charity event was to raise funds for the development of training and employment guidance actions that are carried out in the Supported Employment Service (ECA) and which benefit around 60 people with Down Syndrome and other intellectual disabilities who are in the process of actively seeking employment.
Carolina Ballester, president of the Fundación Síndrome de Down Castellón, said that “the funds raised will be used to continue developing training activities through the Supported Employment service to ensure that people with Down’s syndrome and other intellectual disabilities get a job.”
Currently, there are more than 50 people with intellectual disabilities who have found a job, “access to employment is one of our objectives as it is key to achieve full inclusion and promote their quality of life,” said Ballester.
The golf tournament is one of the main activities organised by Síndrome de Down Castellón throughout the year. “We have a large number of companies that support us and collaborate in the tournament, in addition to the members of the club who enjoy a day of sport and solidarity,” said Ballester.
