The Yellows, despite Sheila’s goal, had to suffer until the end to get a draw
Villarreal Women were able to fight for the 90 minutes against Sporting Club de Huelva, earning a very important point to keep fighting for their goal.
The intensity of the match was high from the opening whistle. In the 10th minute, Sheila headed a counter attack, but the ball went over the goal. In fact, Villarreal Women tried to make quick transitions in order to surprise their opponents, although they were not so lucky in front of goal. For their part, Sporting Club de Huelva played a very physical and dense game, threatening with a couple of Edgren moves and several corners. However, the defence and goalkeeper managed to deal with these situations well.
In the second half, Sheila Guijarro brought joy to the Yellows. The striker, on a counter-attack, passed the ball to Pancha, who shot and the rebound fell to the feet of Sheila, who sent the ball into the back of the net. The joy was short-lived, however, as just a few minutes later, Ana Carol equalised with a header. The final moments were very intense, in which the Yellows’ defence was fierce and held together to prevent the Huelva side’s second goal.
Villarreal Women’s next match, corresponding to Gameweek 29 of the 2022/23 Finetwork Liga F season, will take place next Saturday 13th May, at 12pm CEST, against Atlético de Madrid at the Mini Estadi of the José Manuel Llaneza Training Ground.
