The Valencian striker underlined his gratefulness to the club in his official presentation
Villarreal’s new Valencian striker Paco Alcácer was presented this evening as a new player for the Yellow Submarine in a press conference at the Villarreal CF Training Ground (Ciudad Deportiva). Accompanied by club president Fernando Roig, the new striker was excited about his arrival: “I have to thank both the club and my team-mates for the welcome that they’ve given me and above all of that, the sacrifice they’ve made for me. I can’t thank people enough with words, it has to be on the pitch. When a player is comfortable, you notice, a lot.”
The Spain international underlined that he will work hard to pay back the trust the club has placed in him: “I know clearly that I’m here to help the team and try and score as many goals as possible for the team. The aims that the club and fans have are clear, to be in European competition next year.”
Despite his impressive achievements and long international career, the Yellows forward believes he is joining Villarreal to continue growing as a footballer and play as many minutes as possible: “I’m keen on helping the team, playing and enjoying football once more. No-one is more excited than me. What is in my hands is that I will try and give 100% and try and bring to the team what I can.”
To conclude, Alcácer underlined the importance of scoring for whatever striker: “Scoring is the job of strikers, whenever I don’t score, I don’t go home happy. At the end of the day, it’s clear that the most important thing is that the team wins, but it’s also important to score.”
Roig: “We’ve made a great signing who will surely gift us a lot of happiness”
Villarreal president Fernando Roig believes that Alcácer’s arrival was necessary: “We were looking for a striker and when we knew that Alcácer was an option, we didn’t think twice .We know that he’ll show what he has on the pitch, that he’s going to help us a lot, and we’re going to have a top striker.”
