The Villarreal CF initiative to support athletes from the Castellón province keeps growing

Aitana Safont Falomir officially joins the Endavant Esports initiative. Aitana was born on 20th February 2001 in Almassora and has belonged to the ‘Club Atletismo Playas de Castellón’ (athletics club) since the 2013/14 season. The athlete has competed in many competitions, above all those at provincial and regional levels. In her first season at the Castellón club, in the U16s girls age group alongside her coach María Carmen Vidal, she achieved several stand out results, among them her 1st place on the first day of the ‘Castellón Individual Youth Municipal Games’ and a 2nd place finish on the first day of the ‘els Jocs Esportius C.V. Individual Youth U12, U14 and U16 Team Championships’, both in the hammer throw (3kg).

After this, she specialized in the 3kg hammer throw category. Her rise in the U16s has been swift: in the 2014/15 season she competed in 17 different competitions in which she achieved seven 1st place finishes, six in 2nd place and one in 3rd. She achieved her PB on the 2nd July 2015 with a throw of 44.75 metres. In the next campaign, she improved her throws notably: she participated in 16 competitions and achieved eight 1st places and eight 2nd places; improving her PB to 55.76 metres at the ‘els Jocs Esportius C.V. Interprovincial U16 Championships’, not so far away from Berta Casell’s record of 60.24 metres set in 1999.

Endavant Esports has not stopped adding new teams and athletes to this initiative. So Villarreal just keeps expanding its radius with this project that started twelve years ago, in 204, with athlete Pablo Herrera after the Athens 2004 Olympic Games
