The Yellows were rewarded for their persistence and got a point thanks to a goal from Claudia Iglesias
Villarreal picked up a valuable point from Costa Adeje Tenerife’s visit to the Mini Estadi (1-1) in a match where the yellows once again gave a lesson in hard work and perseverance, finding their reward in Claudia Iglesias’ goal in the final stretch of the game.
It was a first half of struggle between the two teams. With Tenerife trying to exploit their power on the flanks through Koko and Monday, the Submarine tried to dominate the midfield to send balls to McKenna or Kanteh. However, if there was one thing that stood out in the first 45 minutes, it was the constant battle for the ball, which forced the Yellows to work hard physically.
Sara Monforte’s side started the second half much more focused and looking for the goal, but it was when they were at their best that the Tenerife side scored through Blom. Villarreal, however, kept their nerve and, in the 82nd minute, Claudia Iglesias headed home a corner kick perfectly taken by Raquel Morcillo to equalise and score her second consecutive goal.
In the end, it was a valuable point for the Yellows, who will host Levante Las Planas next time out (10th December, 2pm CET, Mini Estadi).
